Local by design. Quiet by default.
Ethos A.I is being built around a simple idea: run the AI on hardware you control, keep your files closer to home, and reduce the constant round-trip to a third-party cloud service.
The AI runs where your files already live.
AI on supported local hardware
Ethos A.I is being designed to run on the user's own computer or server — not as a browser tab talking to a remote data center.
- Files can remain on the system you already control
- You choose which folders are indexed
- Local features can work without sending every request to a cloud provider
- Approved-only indexing — not automatic full-disk scanning
No required monthly AI subscription.
Own the product, not a seat
The intended commercial model is a one-time payment for the core local software rather than an endless monthly Ethos A.I subscription.
- Designed around a one-time product payment
- No required monthly Ethos A.I subscription for core local operation
- You still pay normal electricity and hardware costs
- Optional third-party services may have separate costs in the future
Final licensing and pricing have not yet been announced. Every future feature is not promised to remain free of any cost.
Not "always online" — that's the point.
Core local features are intended to work offline
Once the required models and files are installed, day-to-day local tasks are designed to work without a continuous internet connection.
- Core local AI features may work without internet after setup
- Local indexed documents remain available offline
- Internet-based research, updates, cloud services, remote access, and downloads still require connectivity
- This site does not claim that every feature works offline
Available whenever the machine is on.
Stay reachable throughout the day
You can leave your computer or server running so Ethos A.I remains available in the background.
- Runs continuously on a supported computer or server
- Available for as long as the host machine is powered on
- Electricity, cooling, and safe operating temperatures still matter
- Hardware maintenance is up to the owner of the machine
Where Ethos A.I lives depends on how you install it.
Ethos A.I can be installed on or accessed from compatible local hardware depending on the final product configuration.
-
On a supported laptop
A laptop version travels with the laptop and can work locally on the go.
-
On a home or business server
A server install stays wherever the server is physically located.
-
Over a private local network
Access it from other devices on your own network when configured to allow it.
-
Remotely, when secured
Remote access requires networking and proper security configuration.
Ethos A.I is not something you can carry anywhere without limitations. Offline operation requires the necessary models and files to already be installed, and hardware capability affects speed and available features.
Designed around user control.
Local processing can reduce the need to send private material to a third-party AI provider. Ethos A.I is being designed with privacy as a starting point, not an add-on.
-
Approved folders only
Ethos should not scan the entire computer automatically — only what you've authorized.
-
Local processing
Designed to reduce how often private material needs to leave your device.
-
Clear boundaries
Access to different capabilities is designed to be visible and controllable.
-
You still own security
Security also depends on safe passwords, updates, encryption, network configuration, backups, and physical security.
Ethos A.I does not claim to be "100% private," "impossible to hack," or "completely secure." No system can guarantee absolute security.
